Today I found out there are people out there that still believe in alchemy as some sort of “spiritual practice”.
alchemy, just as any other pseudoscience, is nowadays used as a scam to trick gullible minds into spending money. alchemy was not always like this but was historically the beginning of what we now call chemistry.
a long time ago, when alchemy and chemistry parted, alchemy remained with superstition and wishful thinking, it developed into what people wanted reality to be, but reality just would not bend to their dreamworld. chemistry on the other side developed into a scientific field, finding out about reality itself. it allowed people to understand chemical reactions and use this new knowledge within reality.
they have never been friends ever since…
for me, true spiritual moments are the ones when we gather new knowledge, when we find out incredible things about reality, sometimes unexpected, sometimes amazing, sometimes dangerous. they open the doors to whole new possibilities.
I am someone in the table top RPG community here on Tumblr, and as such I often run into blogs of people who believe in all sorts of things like magick, astrology, faeries, tarot readings, spirits. I almost got into it, but its so loaded with inconsistencies and a lot of stuff there was very paranoia inducing and 80% of it was like people using magick to cure their own mental illnesses (which obviously didn't happen). Your blog is a breath of fresh air after all of that.
many thanks for the compliment! it makes me happy when people tell their stories of how they did not fall for irrational scams. i mean, there is nothing wrong to escape for a while in a cool fantasy world, as long as you can still distinguish fantasy from reality and find your way back 🙂
